Trip Oregon @ James

Well, it all started with a small idea, and like a great 20-hour driving adventure. Well, I thought I could do it like a 20-year-old, and I could, but I learned my lesson.

It turns out my friend James and I found each other on Twitter (@nudist_geek) two years ago, and we started talking, like everyone else, I think. The friendship continued after sometimes not speaking or knowing each other. This year, I made a goal to meet him in person, and even though he’s been through a lot of tough things, I thought it would be nice to have a hug and some naked company.

Well, after working at graveyard shift, and a bit reckless on my part, I slept for four hours and left at 8:15 a.m. on the road to Eugene, Oregon. II’ll say it again, it was a 20-hour drive. I think my adrenaline got the better of me and helped me in the first few hours. I was so excited to meet James and also to be able to get out of Colorado for a bit, and not have to work.

The day was very clear, the sun was hot, but the breeze helped keep me cool. During the first few miles, I sang and checked that I had enough gas to get to another gas station. I had some soft drinks with me, but most importantly coffee, which I couldn’t do without.

Then, as I had shared the location with James, he called me, amazed that I had already made quite a bit of progress. It was only about a 4-hour drive and I was already in Wyoming, which isn’t surprising since it’s only a 2-hour drive from Denver to the Wyoming border, LOL. Well, since I was going to meet a nudist friend, I decided to hit the trail, being the nudist I am, so I decided to drive a long stretch naked, taking advantage of the weather.

It took me almost a few hours to get to Utah. I had to stop at a gas station, obviously by then I was already dressed. Then I continued to Idaho in the middle to fill up the tank, and then almost to Boise for one of the last gas stops.

As I reached the Ontairo sector in Oregon, night was already falling, so I was more cautious but still didn’t want to stop until I reached Eugene. I was still feeling energetic, slightly tired, and well, I told myself I was in Oregon, it wouldn’t be long, but I was wrong.

The streets were endless, long stretches, unlit, and there were almost no cars, some of them almost 5,000 miles away. Arriving in Burns, it started to rain, but it didn’t stop my trip. The stretch between Burns and Bend was interesting; I felt like I was driving in Costa Rica; it was fun. But after passing Sisters, everything went dark, and my vision was already playing tricks on me. The trees and the darkness, plus the rain, the fatigue, and the headlights on my car, made me see things that weren’t real. Honestly, I could have sworn this is how people on drugs feel.

I must admit that, thank God, I arrived safely at the hotel. Check-in time was 3:25 a.m. While the lady in the lobby was checking my information, my legs were shaking, and I just wanted to take a shower and sleep.

That same day, my friend James arrived at the hotel at almost 8 a.m. because we wanted to make the most of the day. At 10:30, he had booked me to visit the Willamette River, which is a must-do at all resorts, and then we went to enjoy the beautiful resort.

We talked, enjoyed the Jacuzzi and the communal lounge, and thankfully it was a nice day for hiking. Later, later in the afternoon, we grabbed dinner at the hotel and continued our company at the hotel.

We talked like there was no tomorrow, we laughed, and we had a great time. That day, James stayed at the hotel because I had to make my return trip to Colorado the next day. I actually fell asleep. James made fun of my snoring the next day, but I really didn’t care. It’s like when you were a kid and you went to your friend’s house to sleep over. It was a great weekend.

On the way back to Colorado, I cried for almost the first 30 minutes because I didn’t want to turn around, yes i was very sentimental, but oh well, that’s life. My boss was already telling me to remember that he had something planned for Tuesday.

The drive back was still long. This time, I tried to sleep in a rest area, but as I was approaching Colorado, the sun was beating down on me, very hot, and lulling me. After that, I had a lot of traffic on I25 at 7 a.m. on Monday.

Well, I really enjoyed meeting James in person and living this experience. We’re going to reschedule, but with a better schedule and not so short on time.
